July Hardcore Classic Results 2018

This month we held the All Girls Hardcore Winter Classic. We were blessed with a sunny day and moved the competition to Flat rock for more preferable surfing conditions for all levels. Flat rock had clean sizeable 2-4 foot waves and a challenging sweep, which was met with rigorous paddling and bold surfing.
As the day progressed the swell and sweep dropped off and many girls scored long fun rides. Well done to all surfers who showed up and surfed in the middle of winter and made the day a lovely social event in which a catered lunch was warmly shared. A huge shout out to our generous sponsors who donated goodies for the prize round which were rewarded to all competitors placed between 1st and 4th.

The Board Meeting Surf Charity

A message of thanks from the Board Meeting Surf Charity

“We could not help the disabled kids in our community without your help. We truly appreciate and thank you for support”

The Board Meeting –

Surfers helping those in need
The families we help have usually fallen through the cracks of Government support, are doing it extremely tough financially and have children with needs those of us with healthy kids could hardly fathom. Since 2005, The Board Meeting has raised in excess of $750,000 for these local families, proving that surfers have big hearts when it comes to helping out those in the community. But there are always more families we can help.

For more information on this amazing charity go to – http://www.theboardmeeting.org.au/

June Club Round 2018

The June Club round was blessed with fine weather and pumping waves. The competition was moved from Lennox to Flat Rock due to the closure of the beach access paths. Flat Rock offered a range of 2-4 ft clean right-handers that provided many of our surfers with long rides and plenty of stoke.
The day was filled with contestable waves for all levels of surfing with the clean and sizeable surf providing a canvas of inspiration. Stoked to hear many girls remark that they caught one of their best waves ever!!! Well done all.
Also how good do the new rashies look!!! A big thank you to Let’s Go Surfing Byron Bay  for their sponsorship with our awesome new rash shirts. Thanks also must go out to The Point Café and North East Waste for sponsoring our brand new tents which also look amazing and are so much lighter for us to manage!! So happy with our new equipment, big thanks to Melissa Wright for all of her behind the scenes organisation in all of these ventures!!
Thanks also to the other Sunday surfers in the water for sharing the waves and encouragement, which also contributed to the good vibes of the contest.

Name: Seraphine Nolette
Age: 31
Born: Brussels, Belgium.
Lives: Bangalow, Byron Shire
Occupation: Lawyer (aka glorified admin person)
Division: Senior Beginner
What made you start surfing:
I got a job offer in Lismore. While I wasn’t keen on Lismore I was keen to move closer to the water. So packed my car and left Brisvegas for a new adventure
My contract was initially for a year so I decided to make the best of it and made a promise to myself to learn how to surf, cook healthy local produce, meet new people and find a work/life balance.
What I didn’t anticipate is how beautifully lost I’ll get in all of it – one of the best adventures so far!
Who are your surfing idols: Any dedicated surfer, beginners or professionals, who truly appreciated the ocean
Where is your favourite wave: My surfing experience has been pretty limited to the Bay and surrounding areas. Come back to me in a couple of years and I’ll tell you but for now anywhere anytime as long as I get to be in the water and have some fun.
What is your dream surfing scenario: Sunny late afternoon surf in the Bay (or any other tropical paradise will do), clear water, light warm wind. Clean waves and Mick Fanning waiting for me with a cold beer in hand … I am one happy woman!
What are your surfing goals for 2018:
1. Catch clean/unbroken waves
2. Read (and correctly interpret) surf forecast; and
3. Understand the magic behind the relationship between ocean, winds and earth.
Other hobbies/interests: Lots of yoga, food and books – the simple things!
Surfing makes me feel: fearless, beautiful and connected. Surfing makes me feel at home.
